Stepper: Initial calibrating steps / mm

Hi @ all,

I changed the x axis of my lathe and the new axis unfortunally has a 6 mm/rev lead spindle instead of a 5 mm. KStep has 16 Microsteps per step and my stepper motor has 200 steps / rev. The steppermotor drives the leadscrew directly. These parameters are leading to a gain that is an endless periodic continued fraction: one millimeter in movement requires 200*16 / 6 = 533,3333333.....steps and so each factor I use would not be precise. If there was a way I could mention a formula (fraction) instead of a gain factor, this problem would be solved. Does anybody know how to do this?

Thanks and best regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

There isn't a means of entering a fraction. You can enter 533.3333333 which would be precise to 10 significant digits. I doubt if your machine is more precise than that :)
