Hi Tom , this is in regards to my plasma cutter. Its running your Kflop and snap amps with Mach3. Yesterday Mach would not connect
properly with your controller. Machine initialized but Mach did not come back with all axis OK signal. Tried to get in with Kmotion
and got a persist.ini error. I do recall this happening before but forgot the fix.

Hi George,

Maybe some disk files got corrupted. Try restoring the \KMotion\Data folder from a backup.

Hi Tom, unfortunately I damaged my Kflop. I accidently shorted ground to 3.3v or 5v terminals (a loose wire touched) on the kanalog board and got a puff of smoke off the kflop. No led will light and the spartan chip on kflop is getting very hot. I will be ordering a new kflop. Just
wondering if the kanalag board would have been damage as well. There is no sign of injury on the kanalag board and I am worried
if I reconnect the kflop that something unwanted may happen. Open to suggestions.

Hi Tom, I checked continuity between Pin 1&2 to 3.3 connector terminal and pin 23&24 to 5v terminal on the JP14 connector on Kanalog. It looks fine. Not open and not shorted to other pins. Also checked GND to pin 25& 26. Also fine. If I check between GND and 1&2 also 23& 24 I get a very short
beep on continuity. Is that normal?

That is normal. There is capacitance across the supplies.

But unfortunately that doesn’t show the Kanalog is good. The only real way you can test it is to connect to a KFLOP.

Thanks Tom, just ordered new Kflop. Any chance of repairing the old one. Any hints on what to look for?

Hi George,

We don’t think it is cost effective to repair KFLOPs. If the FPGA is getting hot it is likely bad. But if other things are bad and it is replaced it may be damaged again. You might check the 3.3V and 2.4V regulators after the FPGA is removed.

Hi Tom, can you tell me how to go about setting up RTCP for the Kflop. I looked at the link
you sent me and I have a good idea of the principle behind it but not quit sure of the
work flow needed to set it up. Is there any other links that would be more of a step by step
setup procedure to do this.
Thanks
George

Hi George,

Here is a link to building the Libraries including the Kinematics. Otherwise tell us what you understand and ask specific questions.
