Re: Smoothing out Brushless motion

Corrected information: The motor Axis (0) is actually rated for 4000 rpm at a 75 V bus and the speed we are running in the test is 2197 rpm. So we are actually running at about 55% of max speed at a bus voltage of 80 v so there is more than enough voltage headroom for operation. AZ PS I saw that you...

Re: Smoothing out Brushless motion

Some additional information: Attached is another current plot with the Axis 0 running at about 90% max speed (300000 with 8192 counts per rev). The peaks of the sine wave forms all show a Peaky flat where at lower speeds (200000) the wave forms were rounded at the peaks. At this speed (300000) the m...

Smoothing out Brushless motion

I have two different brand and different spec brushless motors driven by SnapAmps. I found that after setting them up using AutoPhaseFind the current amplitudes were measurably different depending on the direction of motion. I was able to equalize them by adjusting the Commutation Offset value 10 co...

Re: Brushless setup errors

Yes, I noticed the two middle values were the same as well. I thought that maybe the shaft was stopping just past the Z channel in one direction and then it sees the Z channel again coming the other way. Either way, the results are still useful and with a bit of logical tweaking I was able to get co...

Brushless AutoPhaseFind suggestions

When I ran the AutoPhaseFind it was very helpful in getting the general setup but I found that I couldn't use the InverseDistPerCycle parameter as shown. The motor ran OK for maybe 2 or three revs but the farther it went the more current it took and the slower it went according to the Step Function ...

Re: Brushless setup errors

Thanks for the reply. I did some more testing and swapped the motor stator leads back again and then back to where it runs. Same results. I did find I got more consistent Offset results when I used I higher motor currents on both motors due to the friction of the shaft seals. I've attached photos of...

Re: Intermittently no execution

I found that the program was actually downloading and running but I saw no response from the motors because of an intermittent power supply to the SnapAmp caused by an intermittent pin in a connector. Sorry for the distraction.

Intermittently no execution

I've been experiencing intermittent non-execution of a C program when using the compile/download/execute button on the C program screen. It's an init program and it may have just been running just fine but was halted to diagnose another problem. I'm not exactly sure when it stops executing but I pus...

Brushless setup errors

I have two brushless motors set up on SnapAmps. The motors are different but both have encoders with Z channels. I ran AutoPhaseFind on both and they resulted in different CommutationOffset values. One was 1130 the other was (-193). The values were confirmed multiple times. Using these values in Hom...

Re: Config doesn't find all axes

That fixed it!
Thanks.
