Re: Fawne Fadal, Unchained. (4020 Fadal Retrofit)
Yes, I just mounted the 'half moon' onto the output shaft of that gearbox. Well, had to make an adapter. The belt drive setup you spoke of would be sweet but needed the machine back up. I don't think the umbrella is spinning much faster than OEM. With the start/stop motion of the geneva it starts to...

Re: Fawne Fadal, Unchained. (4020 Fadal Retrofit)
Fawne's Toolchanger started to fail. The swing arm motor would need assistance or fail to complete the swing. I thought for sure that little gearmotor had given up the beans. I would rather not talk about how long it took me to find a bad 'ice cube' relay. 2 days. Anywho that motor has new bearings ...

Re: Fadal 4020HT Retrofit
I sold my control/HMI box along with the controller, but you are making me wish I hadn't! Currently running off a laptop, where the mouse jogging works, but I miss the old MPG setup. MPG handwheel is on my to-do list, but maybe I will copy your design! Holding up the umbrella shrouding are a few fas...

Re: Fawne Fadal, Unchained. (4020 Fadal Retrofit)
Hey DojoJoe, Sounds like you are tackling this in a much more conservative manner than I did. A great thing! With the drives, I started looking into what you are doing, but then found the ones I did. BTW, I still have the 3 of them and would make a guy a great deal. PM if interested. For me, the con...

Re: Fawne Fadal, Unchained. (4020 Fadal Retrofit)
I would say it's not complete yet, but I've been running parts with it ever since. A few little hiccups along the way. Mostly me just learning how new gcode, new controller and old machine like to play together nicely. Very happy overall. From my previous list, here's what I still would like to get ...

Yeah, one would rather not chance, 'riding the lightning,' just trying to troubleshoot a bit or relay!

Re: Shizouka ST-N Matchmaker retrofit
Looks like the cabinet is off to a clean start!
Not to state the obvious but it's easier to add the din rail now rather than later. Even if you don't end up filling them completely it will still make install and future service easier.
Keep up the good work.

Re: Denford Cyclone Lathe
Thanks Moray! Just acquired a Mazak Quick Turn 8N. About to start on a few simple parts with Mazatrol programming but I would much rather just run gcode like my other machines. Due to the daisy chain wiring of the servo and spindle drives I may be gutting a lot! I will go the Konnect route. Just wan...
