Hello,

A new MM build is available here::

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cnctw/files/Machine%20Manager/Install/Machine%20Manager%20III.zip/download

There were some minor bug fixes and performance enhancements. Some of the GUI controls were updated for improved scalability and stretching. This should make it more usable on lower resolution displays.

Hi Brad,
Still no joy here, same old grey fishscale background.
Cheers

That is terrible news.

There are a few people reporting they are able to use it without issue, I would like to know what is going wrong with your installation.

I just removed the install package from this site- it was a bit silly to keep both updated....

To be sure: You installed the latest update I made available last night yes?

You can try to delete your layout file, it is the xml inside the Config\LAYOUT folder and should be named MMLayout.xml

Try killing that and then toggling various View Items and see if anything pops into view.

(fingers crossed)

Hi Brad,
I have good news and bad news.
Bad news is that the install must be faulty, the thing in Program menu/Machine Manager is pointing wrong so a new install starts up and is crippled as it does not find the .msi package.

If I start up from C:/MM3/ with Machine manager.exe all is well and I get it working with all View Items.

Hope this helps to get install to behave as it should, maybe this is foreign language OS playing tricks but should not.

Cheers
Bengt

Brad,

MM has improved a but on my machine, but still has problems. The jkog panel still lands under the controls below it. If I just touch the FRO knob, it starts spinning on its own. A number of the fonts are really tiny, to the point of being illegible unless I enlarge the panel they're on to almost full screen.

How do you load a G-code file? I couldn't see a way to do it...

Ray L.

Ya i noticed that to, that open file,Save,Load, etc, is a bit hidden in the title bar. They need a better contrast. Was thinking these sorta things would improve after the "mechanics" of MM3 was straight. :) Still looking forward to getting mill running with MM3 :)

You will need to adjust the controls to fit your screen size/resolution, it is pretty easy to do and just remember to click Save Layout when you have it just right.

To load a G-Code file, click Auto on the G-Code Console and the click the Load button on the top of the G-Code Console.

Troy- The nail is hit squarely on the head!

I develop on a really nice laptop, among other specs it has an RGB LED screen with amazing visuals. I have also found that when I fire MM up on a test computer that have either a standard LCD or even an LED backlit LCD that my design intentions that looked great on my dev machine failed in production.

As you said, I really wanted to get the guts working well before I re-visited the display stuff. I did not want to be "all show and no go" ;)

When the display stuff is revisited there will be totoal control over the colors and images used on all the controls so you will be able to adapt it to your own personal taste as well as your hardware's capability.

It sounds like possibly there is an old shorcut in your program files?

Does the shortcut on your Desktop work?

Good news in getting past the fish scales though!

Hi Brad,
obviously the uninstall process is not working as it leaves traces of the old install. The shortcut on the desktop was also faulty, so I deleted those and start directly from the directory.
I will try to uninstall the latest functioning MM3 and look for residual files after that and then install again.
Cheers

OK, here we go.
Uninstall does not sweep all folders/files, manual deleting is necessary. Shortcuts on desktop and quick menu as well manually deleted.

New install, new shortcuts = starts install process again! when trying to start from the new shortcuts.
Only start from within MM3 folder works OK after deleting file in Config/Layout, saving my layout does not help either.

So there is something that is not as it should be in the Install/Uninstall process.

Cheers
Bengt

ps KMotion is not started

I will look into this, perhaps there is a windows setting involved.  It should be noted that this is a unique issue.  (At least uniquely reported).

Thanks again for the detailed feedback.

I have also found that when I fire MM up on a test computer that have either a standard LCD or even an LED backlit LCD that my design intentions that looked great on my dev machine failed in production.

A number of the fonts are really tiny, to the point of being illegible unless I enlarge the panel they're on to almost full screen.
