Subject: KFLOP Temperature
Hello,

We have 2 KFLOP boards and I just noticed that one of them is running a lot hotter than the other one.  They both running the same programs and configurations.  The first one that I got (month ago) was running around ambient temperature.  While the second one that I got last week was running a lot hotter.  I measured the temperatures and here are the reading:

DSP - 117.5F
SPARTAN - 113
U2 - 130F
U3 - 150F
U4 - 145F

I am wonder what are the normal operating temperature.  Should I be concern?  Thanks!

Regards,
Norman

Hi Norman,

I can't think of a reason one would be a significantly different temperature than the other with the same configuration and I/O and such.

But those temperatures are all well within normal operating temperature.  KFLOP does consume a couple watts of power.

Tom,

The board with higher temperature just quit when I tried to test it this morning.  Should I send it back for repair?  Where should I send if Dynomotion will take a look?

Tom,

Thanks for sending out the replacement board!

The board is running a lot cooler than the one that got replaced.  I have run the same configuration for 24 hours and the temperatures measured are (FYI):

DSP - 90F
SPARTAN - 911F
U2 - 96F
U3 - 100F
U4 - 102F

Thanks again for the prompt service!

Regards,
Norman
